Discover Stamford is the vibrant new heritage display in Stamford Library. Visitors will discover the rich history of the town and be inspired to go out and explore for themselves ... where “a stroll through Stamford’s streets provides a walk through 1,000 years of history”. The centre piece is the fantastic Stamford Tapestry. Completed in the year 2000 this ‘work of art’ is 20ft long and depicts the history of the town in wool. A magnifying light interactive allows visitors to study the work in detail and find out what is depicted.

Filled with objects and pictures the key stories of this unique town are brought to life. See how the people of Stamford lived, worked and played. Also find out why Stamford is regarded as one of England’s finest stone towns and why for hundreds of years it has attracted travellers from far and wide.

All enquiries about the collections, information sources and loans boxes should be directed via Stamford Library. Please use the contact details above.
