The Civil Contingencies Act and the Regulations requires that the public be made aware, warned and provided with information and advice at the time of an emergency.
Communicating with the public - what the Civil Contingencies Act and the Regulations require
There are two aspects of the duty in relation to communicating with the public. The first is that the public be made aware of the risks of the emergencies and how Category 1 responders are prepared to deal with them if they occur. The second is that the public be warned and provided with information and advice as necessary at the time of an emergency.
