Lincolnshire Coastal Country Park

Lincolnshire County Council's Sustainable Communities Department and partners are seeking views on a proposal to develop a country park on Lincolnshire's coast.

We are seeking to provide high quality facilities for visitors and better protection for wildlife, by creating enhanced, extensive and interconnected nature reserves and wildlife areas.  This will be at the heart of a venue to attract visitors and residents in every season and provide the area with accessible, natural green space for people to enjoy.

The proposed park is earmarked for an area between Sandilands and Chapel St. Leonards, covering approximately eight kilometres of coastline and up to 35 square kilometres of coastal hinterland.

It is hoped that the area can be developed over the next five to ten years and then ongoing beyond that.  Among potential developments are a visitor or heritage centre, networked observatories, interpretation points and improved parking and recreational facilities.

Lincolnshire County Council and its partners are beginning the process of consulting with local people, landowners and visitors to see how they would like to see this area develop and we encourage people to let us have their views.

The public consultation period is now underway, with a questionnaire available via the county council's Natural Environment Team (tel. 01522 782070) or online here (under 'Forms' at the bottom of the page).

Two events are also taking place, allowing you to find out more and voice your thoughts.  These take place on Sunday, 13 April at Anderby Creek beach car park between 1pm and 4pm and on Wednesday 16 April at The Grange and Links Hotel, Sandilands, from 2pm to 8pm.

Please let us know your views by completeing the attached questionnaire or visiting us at either of the consultation events.

Organisations involved in the Project are Coastal Action Zone, East Lindsey District Council, Environment Agency, Lincolnshire County Council, Lincolnshire Tourism, Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust, Lindsey Marsh Drainage Board, Natural England and National Farmers Union.
