How to register to vote

The deadline for residents to register to vote is Wednesday 17 April 2013.

An Electoral Register is compiled following an annual canvass of properties on 15 October each year. The register is used to enable residents to vote at any elections, polls or referendums which might be held during the year.

Canvass form are delivered to every household during late summer. If however you move house during the year, please contact your local district council (see links below) to obtain the appropriate form.

To be able to vote your name must appear on the Register of Electors, if you are not sure whether or not you are registered you can contact the electoral services section of your local district council (see links below).

If you are unable to/do not wish to attend the polling station then you may vote by post or you may want to appoint a proxy voter to vote on your behalf. To obtain the necessary forms you will need to contact your local district council (see links below)
