Adoption
Lincolnshire County Council places around 40 children each year within adoptive homes, and we therefore constantly need to recruit more adopters.
Adoption is a way of providing new, permanent families for children who can no longer live with their own families.
Adoption ends the child's legal relationship with the original family and makes the adopters the new legal parents.
The majority of children placed for adoption will have been removed from their parents through the court system. All of them will have had their plan for adoption approved by the courts. Each will come with their own family history, background and identity, all of which will impact on their adoptive home, and will require understanding and acceptance in order to increase the possibility of a successful placement.
Most adopters retain some contact with their adopted children's birth families, for example an annual exchange of information.

If you are an adoptive or foster parent resident in Lincolnshire and do not receive the Newsletter bulletins or have a password for the website pages for members than you can request one by sending an email to lucym.smith@lincolnshire.gov.uk.
