Employers and Childcare
Are you an employer in Lincolnshire? Do you have staff with children? Do they know where they can get information about childcare?
As an employer in Lincolnshire you will no doubt be aware of the needs of your staff regarding childcare. Employees are better able to concentrate and work their best if they know their children are being looked after safely, and if their employer is as supportive as possible if things ever go wrong.
The Family Information Service can help your employees find suitable childcare to meet a variety of shift patterns and working hours, can map childcare along home to work routes and look for childcare at short notice (when existing childcare is unavailable or a school is closed). Obviously, childcare does not exist to cover all eventualities but we will always try to help.
The Family Information Service constantly updates its information about Ofsted registered childcare, and asks child carers about their costs, school collections, opening hours and services to enable us to best match to parent/carers needs and allow them to make an informed choice.
We also have a range of information for employers on other ways to support their employees, from information on flexible working legislation and family friendly policies, to employee benefits such as childcare vouchers.
Childcare vouchers enable employees to sacrifice part of their salary (up to £55 per week or £243 per month) which goes into a designated account that can only be used to pay for childcare. Employees save tax and National Insurance on the sacrificed amount, and the employer is able to make similar savings which can usually more than offset the administration cost.
The Family Information Service are happy to send resources and leaflets to your business for your employees to access, and we are available on our Freephone number 0800 195 1635 Monday to Friday 8am to 6pm.
