Notes:
Wild at Heart Nature Reserve and Art Centre are the private property of Mr. and Mrs. S.N Larder. The 5 acre garden with a sculpture trail is open to visitors with the owners’ permission for the enjoyment of nature and wildlife. The art gallery rooms display the work of established artists and makers from the East Midlands region. Paintings, ceramics, glass, jewellery, textiles and wood are some of the artworks for sale. The studio and gallery of Anne Wood, resident artist is also open on request.
Directions:
Broxholme is 2 miles off the A57 Lincoln to Saxilby road. Turn off the A57 at Odder Farm. Alternatively, access is from the Saxilby to Sturton-by- Stow road and also from Till Bridge Lane A1500. Wild at Heart is opposite Manor Farm on the main route through the village. There is a name sign at the gate.
Times:
1st November 2009 to 30th April 2010, the Nature Garden is open on Sundays only, 1 – 5pm. (The gallery and refreshments are closed during the winter months.) 1st May 2010 to 30th September 2010 the Nature Garden, Refreshments & Gallery re-open on Friday, Saturday and Sunday afternoons from 1 – 5pm. The studio of resident artist Anne Wood is often open on Sunday afternoons with a selection of landscapes, seascapes and abstract paintings on display. Admission:
There is no charge to visit. The garden is designed primarily for wildlife and is a quiet retreat. Children must be accompanied by a responsible adult at all times in the garden and gallery rooms. No dogs please, except guide dogs on a lead.
Access:
We are able to offer assisted access to some of the gallery rooms for visitors using their wheelchair. Motorised wheelchairs may be unsuitable. Most of the mown grass paths are accessible with care although parts are uneven due to the presence of rabbits and moles. As the garden is primarily for wildlife there are habitats which are not suitable for wheelchair access particularly in wet weather. However, we make every effort for the comfort and safety of visitors so please contact the owners for assistance. Fully equipped disabled use and public toilets are in the village of Saxilby, 2 miles from Broxholme.
Facilities:
Shady places in the garden with seats to sit and rest. Four gallery rooms in the house and garden display the art on sale. Tea, coffee and home-made cakes or biscuits are available as light refreshments served in the house and garden. Our facilities include a toilet in our home for visitors having refreshments in the Art Centre. Fully equipped disabled use and public toilets are in the village of Saxilby, 2 miles from Broxholme.
