Council Services:

Choosing a Care Home

Moving to a care home is a major step, and before considering this, it is very important to make sure that you have explored all the support options available to enable you to remain at home, as support options are developing all the time.

In 2009 Lincolnshire County Council introduced a Quality Assessment Framework for care homes.  Over 200 care homes now receive an annual visit resulting in a star rating.  Care homes and care homes with nursing are rated as follows:

0*        ‘poor’ service

1*        ‘adequate’ service

2*        ‘good’ service

3*        ‘excellent’ service

The assessment is centered on set criteria and is primarily focused on ensuring the personalisation of care within care homes. It aims to raise the standard of care across the County and improve the quality of life experienced by the residents.
