Council Services:

When Your Caring Role Has Ended

Looking after someone can be a massive part of your life, but inevitably your caring role will alter over a period of time. It is important that you consider this, and plan for the future.

There may be a time when you are not be able to look after the person you care for any longer, or when you have to think about life after the person you care for has passed away. It may be that your personal circumstances have changed, and you are no longer able to care for your loved one for that reason.

Whatever your situation it is important to realise that support is available to you. It will not be easy, but you can find help, and emotional and practical support.

Please contact the Carers Team on 01522 782224 for information and advice.

There are many practical and financial considerations to take into account after a loved on has passed away, and you are likely to be in a vulnerable emotional state, so it is vital that you are prepared in advance for this circumstance.

There are some checklists in the downloads section of this page which you may find useful.
