Council Services:

Young Carers

In 1998, the Carer’s National Association (now Carers UK) defined a young carer as:

“Anyone under the age of 18 whose life is in some way restricted because of the need to take responsibility for the care of someone who is ill, has a disability, is experiencing mental distress, or is affected by substance misuse.”

In Lincolnshire, young carers have identified their own set of outcomes as follows:

Young carers are:

  • Healthy
  • Safe
  • Heard & Listened to
  • Enjoy & Achieve
  • Respected
  • Make a Positive Contribution
  • Achieve Economic Well Being

Young Carers work towards achieving these outcomes through the Lincolnshire Young Carers Partnership, and work in Partnership with Lincolnshire County Council and partner organisations to do this.

The young carers’ service is provided in Lincolnshire by Action for Young Carers. For more information on the support and services available to young carers, contact Action for Young Carers on 01205 358834.

Action for Young Carers also provide a service for young adult carers, aged 18-25. Please telephone the above number for more details.
