Council Services:

Learning Disability Services

What is this?

The vision for Lincolnshire's Adult Learning Disabilities Services is one of people living, working, and taking part fully as citizens in their local communities.

People with learning disabilities will be supported to live the lives of their choosing and if they wish, to live in their own homes, to get paid jobs, and use the leisure, health and other community facilities.

Who do we help?

We help if a person:

  • Lives in Lincolnshire
  • Is aged 18 or over
  • Has a severe learning disability
  • Is a carer for an adult with severe learning disabilities

How do we help?

We will provide an assessment to find out what a person needs and whether the person can be best assisted by the Learning Disability Service or elsewhere.

The assessment will look at

  • the help you already get
  • the things you can do for yourself (or with help from family and friends)
  • the things you need help with
  • where you are living

We will also talk to the people who care for you as they also have needs. More information can be found on our Carers Assessment webpage.

What services do we provide?

The Learning Disability Service will help people access services they are assessed as needing. These include things like:

Community support services

  • Support to live in your own home
  • Support with personal care
  • Access local leisure activities
  • Access local further and adult education
  • Paid and voluntary employment opportunities
  • Residential Care
  • Respite Care, both within your home and away from home
  • Direct Payments
  • Adults Supporting Adults/ to be supported or live with a family
