Visiting the Archives
You are welcome to visit the search room to look at the archives and reference books for your own research. Why not also come to one of the talks or exhibitions held in our lecture room from time to time? The lecture room is also the venue for classes and events held by other organisations, such as the WEA.
Please check our opening hours and search room reader ticket and booking systems before making your journey.
The Lincolnshire Archives Search Room has reopened. Bookings for computers and microfiche can be made in advance by phoning 01522 782040 or by following this link. Please be aware that temperatures may vary in the Search Room whilst the new air handling is being tested and commissioned. Please dress accordingly with multiple layers.
As maintenance work is still taking place in the repositories, we regret that we are unable to guarantee access to original documents. Visitors wishing to view original documents are asked to contact the Search Room via 01522 782040 ( Tuesday - Friday 10am - 4pm) giving details of the documents they wish to view. We will then look at the situation closer to the time and confirm availability of documents and booking 2 working days before the proposed visit. This situation will be reviewed at the end of December and it is anticipated that normal service will resume in January.
Please note that the Archives Car Park will remain closed to public access from 13th December while contractors work continues at the site, it is anticipated that it will reopen in January . Alternative parking is available in the NCP and Broadgate car parks on St Rumbold Street.
The mainteance work is necessary to allow the air handling equipment in the six repositories and public areas to be replaced. This work is essential to safeguard the unique and invaluable archival heritage held on site. For more information please follow this link.
