Council Services:

Taking your own digital photographs for private study

Please follow these guidelines if you would like to use your own digital camera in Lincolnshire Archives Search Room to photograph items for private study purposes only.

There is a daily charge of £5.20 to use a digital camera or an annual permit for regular visitors of £52.

If you are intending to publish or exhibit the photographs, including displaying on the Internet, please refer to a member of staff.

1. Check that it is ok to photograph the material when you ask a member of staff for the Digital Photography Copyright Declaration Form.

These are guidelines for material that is NOT suitable for digital photography in the Search Room. The final decision rests with Archives’ staff but if you are not able to photograph the item yourself you still have the option to order a copy.

Format

  • Fragile material
  • Multi-membraned and tightly rolled material
  • Tightly bound volumes which do not fully open
  • Material for which we already have a microform copy

Collections

  • Post 1858 Wills
  • Monson Collection
  • Society of Friends Collection
  • Miscellaneous Copies of Documents collection [MCD]

For copyright reasons we are unable to permit copies where the document itself is a copy.

We will be monitoring the documents requested and amending these guidelines in the light of experience.

2. Complete a Digital Photography Copyright Declaration Form for the items you wish to photograph. You can add items to this throughout the day with the agreement of staff.

3. Please turn off any flash and sound features on your digital camera as a courtesy to other users.

4. Please take your photograph on the desk allocated for taking photographs using only the equipment provided in the Search Room to ensure careful handling of the documents.
