Lincoln Register Office

The Register Office is situated at the foot of Lindum Hill, below the historic cathedral.

It is a magnificent listed building built in the 19th century as a home for the Bainbridge family.

The waiting room is decorated with a medieval tapestry saved from a demolished house.

The ceremony room is tastefully decorated in shades of burgundy and gold with oak panelling. It seats up to 40 guests.

A copy of the Carmichael painting of the city hangs in the ceremony room. It’s accompanied by other pictures of the city and complimentary silk flower arrangements.

French windows lead to an attractive and colourful lawned and terraced garden.

Vehicular access to the office is via Clasketgate, which is a  one way street from the Broadgate/Lindum Road junction. Take the first right turn into Flaxengate. Pay and Display parking is to your left in the Grantham Street car park or follow the road uphill to the car park in front of The Collection ( museum).  The whole area is no parking on the roadside.  The office entrance on Danesgate is to your right, as you turn into Flaxengate. If using SatNav, you need to enter the postcode for The Collection, not the office – LN2 1LP.

All Lincolnshire Registration Offices operate an appointment system. Telephone 01522 782244 to make an appointment.

Situated in the beautiful cathedral city of Lincoln, our main office was originally built in 1888 as a family home.

The attractive wood panelled waiting room, containing a medieval tapestry, leads into a spacious entrance hall complete with superb stained glass door panels.

Our ceremony room is full of features. It is decorated with paintings of the city, and for its focal point has a magnificent fireplace.

The décor is in shades of burgundy and gold, and the general ambience of the room is enhanced with the use of several silk flower arrangements. It comfortably seats 40 guests.

French doors lead out to a colourful garden and patio area – ideal for photographs.

Apart from the stunning cathedral and castle set high on a hill in the historic Bailgate area of Lincoln - delightful for shopping – there is also the Brayford Pool waterside edged with pubs, hotels and restaurants.
