Council Services:

Community and Voluntary Sector Support

A robust and active voluntary and community sector is one of the key indicators of a strong and cohesive community.  Over the past few years, Lincolnshire County Council has reinforced its commitment to support and develop voluntary and community organisations and has subsequently developed strong working relationships with the sector. This can be demonstrated through a recent report ‘ The Economic Significance of the Third Sector ’ Follow the link for more information and to download the report.

Additionally in 2009 The Lincolnshire Third Sector Strategy was produced to further enhance the relationship between the public sector and the ‘third’ [1] sector.  This included an action plan of activities that is currently being delivered.  Follow the link for more information on the strategy.

Community Development

Working directly with residents, as well as partners our Community Development Team will promote a real sense of community spirit by helping people set their own goals and take action that will improve their area and resolve its issues.

**RACoL led the development of the Really Useful Stuff Handbook (RUS) for Voluntary and Community Groups where there is now a full time Officer in post to update and maintain the handbook.

Please contact Ania Lada - Rozwadowska, RUS Development Officer

Tel : 01522 550524 or follow the link for more information on the Really Useful Stuff Handbook.

If you like to hear more about our work or think we could work together for the benefit of the communities please contact the team on communitydevelopment@lincolnshire.gov.uk

The Community Development Team is a member of the Lincolnshire Compact working group, which provides a series of codes of practice and an active network to enable voluntary sector organisations to share good practice and encourage fairer joint working.  For more information about the Compact, follow the link under the 'Websites' tab.

[1]  The Government uses the term ‘third sector’ to describe voluntary and community organisations, charities, faith groups, social enterprises, co-operatives and mutuals.
