Your Local Health Services

How can I find all my local health services

Search by postcode or place name to find which health services are local to you.  This page from the NHS Choices website provides details of GPs, Hospitals, Dentists and Urgent & Emergency Care.  You can also search for specialist clinics - such as alcohol, asthma, diabetes and sexual health and a wide range of other choices.

How can I find a Complementary Therapist in Lincolnshire

From this page you can search for complementary therapists in Lincolnshire.

How can I find information on local Hospices?

The Hospice Information Service provides this directory of hospice and palliative care services in the UK and Ireland.  You can search by region, and by the type of service you are looking for.

How can I choose which service to?

Choose and Book is a service that lets you choose your hospital or clinic and book an appointment.

When you and your GP agree that you need an appointment, you can choose which hospital or clinic you go to. You will also be able to choose the date and time of your appointment.

The benefits of Choose and Book are;

  • You can choose any hospital in England funded by the NHS (this includes NHS hospitals and some independent hospitals).
  • You can choose the date and time of your appointment.
  • You experience greater convenience and certainty. With Choose and Book, the choice is yours.
  • There is less chance that information will get lost in the post because more correspondence takes place through computers.

If your GP or the person referring you gives you a unique booking reference number (UBRN) you can access the service available through the Choose and Book system and compare up to five services, to help you make an informed choice about where you want to be treated.

What is meant by patient choice?

From April 2008, all patients registered with an English GP will have the right to choose from any NHS funded provider following a referral to a hospital consultant. The only exceptions will be cases requiring speed of access, such as suspected cancer and chest pains, in addition to maternity and mental health services.

How can I compare health services?

Choose the 'Compare Hospitals' picture on the NHS Choices website and select the condition you wish to compare hospitals for.

How can I make a complaint?

If you feel that you need to make a complaint about the health service, you can talk to the Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) or to the complaints manager at the NHS trust hospital or primary care trust involved in your complaint. They may be able to resolve your concerns on the spot or can provide you with details of how to complain

An independent complaints advocacy service (ICAS) is available to provide advice and support to people who wish to complain about the NHS.   Follow the weblinks to find out more.
