Recycling and Waste: A Sustainable Future for Lincolnshire’s Waste

The Lincolnshire Waste Partnership (LWP) - consisting of Lincolnshire County Council, the seven District Councils and the Environment Agency - is dedicated to delivering a better approach to deal with Lincolnshire’s waste.

  • Boosting recycling and composting to 55%
  • Recovering energy from residual waste
  • Reducing reliance on landfill
  • Fighting climate change

The following services are available to households in Lincolnshire:

Kerbside collections – The District Councils are responsible for the collection of your household waste including recycling and bulky waste. Please contact your District Council for more information about their collection service or with any queries you may have, including missing bins.

Household Waste Recycling Centres (HWRCs) – Lincolnshire County Council provide 13 sites across Lincolnshire where you can recycle a wide range of materials.

We are all responsible for the amount of waste produced and everyone can play an active part in working towards a sustainable future for Lincolnshire’s waste by reducing the amount of waste you produce, reusing what you can and recycling.

Reduce: To reduce the amount of waste produced the LWP run a real nappy campaign, support the national Love Food Hate Waste campaign, promote a home compost bin scheme, and have worked with Lincolnshire Trading Standards on a dedicated packaging waste project. If you see any items that you feel have excessive packaging you can report it to Lincolnshire Trading Standards on 01522 782341.

Reuse: There are a number of ways items can be reused  instead of thrown away.

Recycle: All households in Lincolnshire have access to a range of recycling services.

Recovery: The waste that is not reduced, reused or recycled is currently being sent to landfill but an Energy from Waste facility is now under construction that will allow us to recover energy in the form of electricity from this waste. There is also the potential to recover heat from the facility as well that could be used for a district heating scheme, and this is being explored. To find out more about why this technology was chosen, how the process works, and to follow the construction of the facility, please follow this link - Energy from Waste
