Lincolnshire Wheels to Work
Need transport to access work, training or further education as a post 16 student?
Loan bike, will travel
Access-Your-Future has been operating the countywide Wheels to Work programme since May 2010 to help those most rurally isolated access work and training.
With initial start up funding from Lincolnshire County Council the social enterprise provides an affordable 50cc or 125cc moped loan for those unable to get to work, education or training opportunities due to lack of a transport solution. All income from the project is reinvested to support this transport option for the future.
This is what some of those already benefitted from the scheme had to say:
43 year old Anthony said “I use the scooter to travel 10 miles a day to work. I didn’t think there was any help or hope before I saw a poster for access-your-future in my local council office.
I have been on the scheme for 6 months and I am very happy with all the help and support I have received, I would recommend it to anyone.
Before I was on the scheme I had to stay away from my family during the week to be nearer to work, but now I can easily travel each day from home”.
27year old student Anna says “the scheme has been a real lifesaver for me; it has made my life so much easier and given me the independence I thought I would never be able to afford until I had finished my course and started work”.
19 year old Sales Assistant Melissa explained “before I had my 50cc scooter I had to rely on taxis and buses which cost me a fortune. The wheels to work scheme has helped to get to work and also to get around seeing my friends. I have so much more freedom now; I can’t say a bad word about access-your-future.
