As the Local Highway Authority, the County Council is responsible for planning and implementing a range of schemes aimed at improving conditions for motorists, public transport users, cyclists and pedestrians, as well as supporting industry across the county.
The overall strategy and programme is set out in the Local Transport Plan.
In addition the County Council, as Highway Authority, is a statutory consultee for all Planning Applications received by both the District and County Council. Further information on this can be found within the Control of New Developments Affecting the Highway.
