In 2007 Lincolnshire County Council along with partners including all seven district councils held a series of events aimed at promoting a whole host of services for older people including welfare benefit take-up, community safety, energy efficiency, healthy living and community transport.
The next phase of the campaign was to invite Lincolnshires organisations, clubs, community groups and societies to set up events in their local communities.
"Events run by communities, for communities."
Throughout the month of October 2007 the campaign supported communities all over Lincolnshire to run events aimed at helping ensure older people in their community are prepared for the winter months. These events featured anything from free home fire safety checks to welfare benefit advice or making sure paths are gritted in the street during icy weather.
All groups were asked to register their interest in the campaign to receive a free events pack which included marketing tips, event check lists, details of pre-arranged speakers, displays and information about services available to people.
