A-Z of Council Services:

The Minerals and Waste Development Framework is a new set of documents which will replace existing Minerals and Waste Local Plans and better address issues for future minerals and waste activities in Lincolnshire.

A main consideration will be to ensure all future minerals extraction and waste management are carried out in the most sustainable ways possible to protect both the environment and local communities.

At present work is progressing on the Minerals and Waste Core Strategy and Development Management Policies - Preferred Minerals and Waste Strategies. A non-statutory consultation on this document will commence on Thursday 10th June 2010 until Friday 8th October 2010.

In conjunction with this, a Submitted Sites document and accompanying Site Assessment Methodology is also out for consultation over the same period. This particular document is the first stage in preparation of a Site Locations Document where individual sites will be allocated - see link below.

The Preferred Strategies document follows on from the Revised Issues and Options consultation carried out between October and December 2009.  This document sets out the Council's Preferred Strategy in respect of future minerals and waste development.  It is a non-statutory consultation.  However, as stated in the Revised Issues and Options consultation, it is considered important to further consult the community and key stakeholders on the Council's preferred strategies.

The document focuses on the need for new minerals and waste development and where, in broad terms, this should be located in the County.

The consultation can be viewed on online by clicking the link below:

Only representations made online, in writing or by email within the consultation period ending 8th October will be considered.

An Interim Sustainability Appraisal (SA) accompanies the Preferred Minerals and Waste Strategies paper to ensure that social, environmental and economic considerations have been taken into account and will inform the planning policy decisions.  Preceding this, an independent Sustainability Appraisal Scoping Report has been produced by Scott Wilson Ltd - both can be downloaded via the link on the right.

The table, which can be downloaded via the link on the right, details the content and timescale for the Minerals and Waste Development Plan Documents.

The next stage of the process is to review the responses received and produce a 'Pre-Submission' document that will be subject to further consultation.  This document will be available in January 2011.
