London 2012 Procurement Opportunities 

Who is it aimed at?

Any company who provide a service or goods that may be needed to support the London 2012 Games.

How is it delivered?

Through a website called Compete For which is the chosen site of London 2012 for the publication of Games-related contract opportunities.

It acts as a brokerage service between buyers throughout the London 2012 supply chain and potential suppliers. Compete For also provides access to business support services; building skills and capacity to ensure that businesses across the UK can access opportunities linked to the hosting of the London 2012 Games.

Compete For has been developed on behalf of the English Regional Development Agencies and UK Devolved Administrations by the London Development Agency, working closely with the London Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games (LOCOG) and the Olympic Delivery Authority (ODA).

Why should you add your company to the database?

Although the main Games will be held in and around the London area, this does not mean Lincolnshire companies cannot reap the benefits from this multi-million pound event.

Building work is well under way and contractors for related services are needed.  In the near future contracts will be awards for a whole spectrum of services and goods.

Just think,

• 9,000 new homes are being built
• 30,000 beds and bedding to be purchased
• 100 tonnes of meat and 350 tonnes of vegetables will be eaten

The list goes on, whatever services you offer, be it manual labour, electrician, telecommunications, security or hospitality. You may manufacture, wholesale or just have skills you feel could benefit somewhere along the line. Opportunities are posted on the website and once you have published your details of what you have to offer then you can receive alerts to notify you when the contracts are being tendered for. The opportunities vary in size so do not be put off it you are a small company, over 80% of tenders are being won but small to medium businesses.

What is Lincolnshire County Council's involvement?

As part of our commitment to support local companies, the Invest Lincolnshire team is actively promoting the opportunities available for procuring contracts for the London Games 2012. With so many opportunities to be had, we believe Lincolnshire businesses can and should reap some of the rewards.
