Food and farming is estimated to contribute £1 billion to the economy of the county. In terms of both value and employment the sector is the third biggest in Lincolnshire and the county's economy reliance on food and farming production and manufacture is four times higher than the national average.
Problems in recent years, such as disease in livestock and flooding have badly affected the industry and countryside, impacting on incomes, rural tourism and business success.
The Lincolnshire Forum for Agriculture and Horticulture is a partnership between public and private sector organisations concerned with sustaining and supporting the industry. The Forums' pledge is to work on activities that help to bridge the gap or add to initiatives that are already supporting private businesses in the sector.
For more details on the work of the Forum, please visit their website (see link to the right of this page).
