Compliance with the Freedom of Information Act is the legal responsibility of each local authority. It is part of a wider group of national policies which have the aim of modernising government and showing people how it is working on their behalf. Since January 2005 people have had a right to know what decisions are taken on their behalf, and how services are run. They can ask to see not only the printed leaflets and other publications that describe the services, but also the background files and records, except where statutory exemptions apply.
Lincolnshire County Council has published a publication scheme which shows what information can already be accessed. Any information which is not part of the Publication Scheme can be requested under the Freedom of Information Act 2000. This is in accordance with the Model Publication Scheme for local authorities issued by the Information Commissioner.
If you would like to make a request for information under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 please follow the link and complete the online form.
Alternatively, if you would like to make your request by post or e-mail (without completing the on-line form), please send to the contact address stating that your request is being made under the Freedom of Information Act 2000. Your request must include a contact name, an address for correspondence and state clearly what information is required. We will give you assistance and advice if you need help to put your request together.
We will aim to supply the information to you within 20 days, unless there is an exemption or a fee to pay.
If the information you have asked for is not held by Lincolnshire County Council we will inform you and where possible give you details of which public authority we believe does hold the information, so that you can submit your request to them.
Latest News - The Information Governance (IG)Team will soon be launching a new systems based training package which aims to provide LCC employees with a basic understanding of IG.
