Lincolnshire Archives is the public archive service for Lincolnshire. The Archives centre in Lincoln offers an accessible search room for researchers investigating the extensive archive and reference library collections.

Visit the various sections on this website to find out more about the collections, research and copying services and guidance on how to get the most out of your search room visits.

Intending visitors must book Search Room spaces in advance. You can do this by telephone, e-mail or on-line via our eBookings system which is accessible to users who have already registered their reader ticket with the search room.

The Search Room is open Tuesday-Saturday, 10am-4pm, excluding public holidays, Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve.  A CARN reader ticket is required for entry to the Search Room.  Please see the "Visiting the Archives" link to find out more about the reader ticket and booking systems, our location, and our facilities.

As part of efforts to increase access to this collection, some of the holdings of Lincolnshire Archives are available to search online through Cultural Collections For more information on Cultural Collections see: Searching Cultural Collections

We apologise in advance for any inconvenience caused during the filming on August 11th 1-2.30pm of 'Behind Closed Doors', which will be presented in the Autumn on BBC2 by author Amanda Vickery. The Search Room will remain open but access to certain parts may not be possible during filming.

Lincolnshire Archives will be closed all day on Friday 26th November for staff training and apologises for any inconvenience caused.
