Visiting Lincoln Castle
All the information you need to plan your visit to Lincoln Castle.
As part of the Lincoln Castle Revealed project we are currently carrying out vital restoration of the north and west curtain walls of Lincoln Castle, which have suffered extensive water damage over the years. We are also improving the wall walk which will see the entire wall eventually opened up to visitors as a complete circuit.
As a result the area to the south of the prison building is currently inaccessible to visitors for safety reasons. This means visitors will not be able to enter the Lucy Tower or the Observatory Tower though other sections of the Castle wall walk will still be open (subject to weather conditions).
The prison is currently closed whilst it undergoes major refurbishment as part of the final phase of our redevelopment.
For full details of our exciting Lincoln Castle Revealed project, which includes improvements to the wall walks, a new Magna Carta exhibition and the opening up of the Victorian Male Prison, please visit the Lincoln Castle Revealed page.
The works are scheduled to be completed in time for the 800th anniversary of Magna Carta in 2015.
If you are planning your visit and would like to know more about which parts of the Castle are accessible, please contact our Customer Service Centre on 01522 782 040 prior to your visit.
