Council Services:

Mobility cars, scooters and wheelchairs

There are various schemes to help people with disabilities and mobility concerns to access their community.

Motability Scheme

The scheme is designed to help people with disabilities to lease safe, reliable and affordable cars, powered wheelchairs and scooters.

The Motability Scheme has an eligibility criteria for people who want their support. You can find out more about the eligibility criteria, costs and benefits on the Motability Scheme website.

Many of Lincolnshire’s car dealerships offer mobility cars, including cars through the Motability scheme. We recommend that you speak directly with your dealership about these opportunities.

Shopmobility provides the use of manual and powered wheelchairs and scooters to help people with limited mobility or sight problems to get around the town to shop, visit attractions and use local facilities. In addition to this, trained sight guides are available for people with sight problems, either to accompany you on foot or to push your wheelchair. The support is available for people of all ages, whether your need is temporary or permanent, and can be used by residents and visitors alike.

You will need to register before you can use Shopmobility services. There is a one-off membership fee for regular users and a low cost hire charge for non-members.

We have included Shopmobility on this page as we are aware that they do not currently have their own website, but you can contact their office in Lincoln’s Bus Station or phone them on 01522 514477. There are other similar schemes available around the county.
