SUSTAIN Lincolnshire

ABOUT SUSTAIN Lincolnshire

SUSTAIN Lincolnshire is a programme of activities, led by Lincolnshire County Council, which aims to help Lincolnshire’s business to become more competitive at the same time as reducing their carbon footprints and safeguarding the environment. It recognises the major business opportunities that climate change presents and supports the emerging green sector.

Phase 1 of SUSTAIN Lincolnshire is a three year programme of activity joint funded by Lincolnshire County Council, the East Midlands Development Agency (emda) and the European Regional Development Fund. The programme runs from 1st January 2010 until 31st December 2012 and promotes resource efficiency in business by:

  • providing free intensive business advice
  • supporting the development of sustainable procurements clusters
  • promoting business to business collaboration
  • providing investment in training and the training infrastructure
  • helping to bring new resource efficiency products and services to the market

“Climate change is one of the biggest challenges we face and in Lincolnshire we are committed to tackling the causes and effects. This business support programme will encourage businesses to become more efficient and offers practical advice on how to reduce their carbon footprint. In the current economic climate the programme will promote a culture of innovation and collaboration across the county, helping Lincolnshire’s businesses flourish and become more competitive.”- Councillor Eddy Poll, Executive Councillor for Economic Development and Tourism at Lincolnshire County Council.

It also provides SMEs with the opportunity to see the new technologies working in a living environment. For details of these events and future dates contact Liam Parkman on 01476 402216 or e-mail lparkman@grantham.ac.uk

The University of Lincoln in Holbeach will continue to run a series of workshops designed specifically for the Food and Drink Sector. Research has identified that this sector has a significant environmental footprint so workshops will aim to educate SMEs on resource efficient methods and technologies. An on-line version is now available. For further information please contact holbeach@lincoln.ac.uk or telephone 01406 493000.
