Service Description

The Social Book Club will never shock or scare children in any way, but instead create open minds.

There are approximately 13,000 people living in slavery in the UK. It is estimated that one in five of these are children. All of our workshops educate children on:

  • calculating risk
  • recognising unhealthy relationships
  • aspects of online safety
  • inspire them that “one person can make a change”
  • encourage them to be active global citizens

Everything is age-appropriate using comedy, drama, games and storytelling throughout. The work compliments aspects of national PSHE guidance, SMSC, Ofsted Safeguarding and promotes British Values.

All workshops are accompanied by a pack follow-up lesson worksheets.

We encourage children to give feedback which can be collated and return to the school for use in their Ofsted portfolios.

Workshops are available in term time throughout the academic year for primary schools across Lincolnshire.

We work with schools to find the most suitable timings for the workshops.

We can adapt our sessions to be between 45 minutes to an hour long to best suit the school day.

The session works best in a classroom environment.

A maximum of 35 children in each session

The Social Book Club - an online library for children, to educate them on the issues they may face in the world today. We still offer the range of workshops Just Enough provided with the added bonus of books covering those difficult to broach topics, with class worksheets to continue the learning and discussions in class also. Our workshops are unique in being the only provision available to children as young as eight years old on the topic of modern slavery.

At The Social Book Club we are addressing this difficult subject that is affecting people all over the world, including people in Lincolnshire with known arrests in Boston, Sleaford and Skegness. Our follow up lesson worksheets will compliment your taught curriculum.
