Boundaries and personal space for year 6 - Stay Safe Partnership

Provider
Positive Health
Introduction

One hour workshop covering positive relationships for KS2 children.  This training could be used as evidence towards helping you achieve SMSC.

Outcomes

Our Positive Relationship sessions are one of our most popular sessions for all age groups. However, recently we have found that we need to update this workshop to include some new themes. Nationally there have been an increase of issues with harassment and consent within schools, including a shocking report from OFSTED. Although this was identified within secondary age pupils, we have been approached by primary schools who are requesting an age appropriate session regarding these topics.

Therefore, our updated Positive Relationship session covers how we respect personal space, boundaries, and consent. We ensure that the students are clear regarding the correct names for body parts then we discuss which parts of the body are private, and which parts we are OK with being touched (with consent!) and how everyone is different. Also depending on the relationship that you have with someone can determine how much personal space you are comfortable with.

Respecting each others personal space and boundaries is taught using a mixture of worksheets, group ideas and videos. We make sure the students understand what they can consent to at their age and also the consequences if we don’t respect others.
