What Does Stalking Mean:

Stalked by someone they know

Suzy Lamplugh Trust believes that everyone has the right to live life free from the harassment of stalkers.

They want to make sure everyone knows that #StalkingMatters and that no one should live in fear of another person.

Their focus this year is on helping police and support workers recognise the signs of stalking at an early stage, and focusing on the motives of the stalker, not just on specific incidents or behaviour.

This type of behaviour could be as simple as rearranging a victim’s garden furniture, sending unwanted gifts, loitering on the pavement outside their house, or even calling social services to maliciously report ‘poor’ parenting. Despite not presenting an immediate physical risk, it is behaviours, and the obsession and fixation behind them, that we want to raise awareness of.
