Council Services:

Transport and disabled parking

Transport is an important issue for anyone living with a disability and there are a number of schemes available which may help you.

Blue Badge parking concessions

The aim of the Blue Badge scheme is to help disabled people who have severe mobility problems to access goods, services and other facilities by allowing them to park close to their destination.

The scheme provides a national range of on-street parking concessions for Blue Badge holders who are travelling either as a driver or passenger.

Bus passes for the disabled

The English National Concessionary Travel Scheme allows all eligible older and disabled people to travel free on off-peak scheduled bus services anywhere in England.

For further information, visit our concessionary travel pages.

Shopmobility provides the daily loan of powered scooters or wheelchairs and manual wheelchairs to Lincoln City shoppers with mobility issues.

Lincoln Shop Mobility operates from the city’s central bus station, just off Melville Street.

For further information, visit the Shopmobility website.

Motability was established to provide disabled people with safe, reliable and affordable cars.

Cars account for 99 per cent of the scheme’s activities, with powered wheelchairs and scooters making up the rest.

More than 1.5 million disabled people in the UK qualify for the higher-rate mobility component of Disability Living Allowance from the Government which can be used to lease or buy a car, powered wheelchair or scooter through the Motability scheme.

Cars, powered wheelchairs and scooters are supplied new from 3,500 Motability-accredited dealerships across the UK and customers can choose from more than 20 car brands. The scheme also provides a small number of used cars through hire purchase.
