Health and Wellbeing Board

The Lincolnshire Health and Wellbeing Board is a forum which brings together key people from the health and care system to work together to reduce health inequalities and improve the health and wellbeing of the people of Lincolnshire.

The Health and Wellbeing Board was established as a formal committee of the county council in April 2013 as part of the Health and Social Care Act (2012).

Board members collaborate to understand the needs of Lincolnshire’s communities, agree priorities and encourage the people who make decisions about local health and care to work in a more joined up way.

What does the Board do?

The Board is responsible for producing the Joint Strategic Needs Assessment (JSNA). The JSNA looks at a wide range of information sources to identify the key issues for people living in Lincolnshire. It is published as an interactive web resource on the Lincolnshire Research Observatory and it has recently been updated following a comprehensive review. View the JSNA.

The JSNA is used as the basis for the planning and commissioning of services to meet local needs.

The JSNA is also used by the Board to inform the priorities in the Joint Health and Wellbeing Strategy. The strategy aims to inform and influence decisions about health and social care services. During 2017, the Health and Wellbeing Board is reviewing the Joint Health and Wellbeing Strategy using the updated JSNA as the primary evidence base. As part of the process, a series of engagement events and opportunities took place in early summer 2017 to gather the views and insights of key stakeholders, partners and the public.

The new Joint Health and Wellbeing Strategy will be agreed by the Health and Wellbeing Board in March 2018.

The Board is responsible for agreeing the Pharmaceutical Needs Assessment (PNA). The PNA is an assessment of pharmaceutical services and need in the county, and makes recommendations for future provision. Find out more about the PNA.
