Council Services:

Brief intervention of generic support

Generic support is given for a period of up to six weeks. The support is flexible, tailored to your needs and designed to promote your independence and prevent deterioration in your skills and abilities.

To make a referral to the Wellbeing Service, call 01522 782140.

Having someone to help you, by developing a personalised action plan and co-ordinate a range of support agencies, will help to identify specific needs and those agencies best placed to meet these in the short and longer term.

This will include ensuring you have information about services and activities, making referrals to other agencies where required, and providing help and advice on community based services who you may wish to contact or who can help support you back to independence.

Examples of generic support

  • Support to gain home management and lifestyle skills.
  • Access to befriending services.
  • Supporting access to various activities provided by local clubs, voluntary or community organisations.
  • Support where you require help and advice to remain in your home.
  • Support to secure and maintain appropriate housing.
  • Help to manage your finances and benefit claims.
  • Help to complete forms to enable you to stay independent in your own home.
  • Support to understand the options available by gathering information and explaining in a way that makes sense to you.
