Life at LCC

Staff networks

We are committed to creating a move diverse and inclusive organisation and ensuring that we support our staff fully in their day to day.

To support this commitment, we have specific staff networks that contribute to addressing and solving problems for all under-represented and disadvantaged groups and individuals within our organisation.

There networks help to improve inclusivity at work by:

  • providing a safe space for discussion of issues
  • helping to raise awareness of issues within the wider organisation
  • providing a source of support for individual staff who may be facing challenges at work
  • offering a collective voice for the workforce to communicate with management

Our staff networks include:

Corporate Diversity Steering Group (CDSG)

This group is made up from appropriate representatives from across the Council. It provides council wide strategic direction to equality and diversity and ensures the Council's statutory requirements are met.

Employee Health and Wellbeing Group

This group ensures work is focused and targeted appropriately. It links in with the work of the smarter working project and work being led by Lincolnshire Partnership Foundation Trust (LPFT) to support employees with health and wellbeing, particularly across health and social care.

Organisational Development Steering Group

This group meets bimonthly and works collaboratively and creatively to support the delivery of our Employee Health and Wellbeing, Engagement and Development, and Workforce Strategy initiatives for the Council.

Identify Staff Engagement Group

The Black and Minority Ethnic Staff Engagement Group has recently begun to reform following recent developments both locally and globally affecting BAME communities. In the past the group has discussed relevant topics that may otherwise not be discussed, provided innovative solutions, and brought these to the attention of the CDSG. Programmes include Listening Ear, a confidential, supportive phone line for staff, and the KwickLincs service where staff in the council speaking other languages can offer up their support emergency requirements.

Staff Carer Network

This new network offers networking, peer support, information, and signposting, with the potential to serve as employee voice for carers in the council. The Network now communicates regularly to over 50 members, right across the organisation.

Disability Staff Engagement Group

The Disability Staff Engagement Group is represented on the CDSG, providing feedback on any prevailing issues identified by colleagues with a disability. It gives a voice to colleagues impacted by high level strategic decisions, enables them to be informed and fosters more positive relationships.

LGBTQ+ Staff Network

The LGBTQ+ staff network group can provide staff with an opportunity to be heard, and a forum for LGBTQ+ staff to talk about issues that specifically affect them. Whilst promoting Lincolnshire County Council as an LGBTQ+ friendly employer and service provider. The network is a place to get support, discuss issues and to influence the development of inclusive council policies and activities across the county.
