Running a street party

Not long to go until it’s Platinum Jubilee time!

We hope you’re looking forward to the fun of the occasion across the four days from June 2 – 5.

There are plenty of things happening across Lincolnshire to celebrate the Queen’s 70 years on the throne, including more than 220 Street Parties.

You can view online where every road closure for a street party is.

Now, for the not-so-great news. If you’ve not already got your permission for a road closure sorted, then it’s too late to get it done.

The very latest that we could accept applications for street parties where a road had to be closed was May 2.

So if you’ve left it until now, sorry but it’s just too late to get a road closed for a party – but that doesn’t mean that you can’t still celebrate somewhere else. Just not on a road.

Really, that’s not OK to do if you can’t legally close it off because emergency vehicles have to be able to get to places at short notice - and they need to know which roads are closed when they’re out helping people.

So please don’t have a street party unless you’ve got the proper legal permissions for one. Thanks.

If you’re having a Jubilee Street Party then enjoy it and we wish you the very best.

And if you’re having a Jubilee Party (that’s not on a street) then enjoy it and we also wish you the very best.

Have a great time over the Jubilee celebrations.
