Autism Self Assessment Framework 2016

This is the fourth self-assessment exercise released by the Department of Health since the implementation of the 2010 Adult Autism Strategy (as amended by ‘Think Autism’ in 2014). A response is requested from all local authorities in England with the purpose being to enable the Government to monitor progress across the country in achieving the goals identified in the national strategy. It also allows local authorities and local strategy groups (Autism Partnership Boards) to review progress and support future planning.

The 2016 Autism SAF builds on the previous exercise undertaken in late 2014. A number of questions remain the same; however, others have been modified or are brand new from the last self-assessment. Responses relate to adults unless otherwise stated, in line with the responsibilities of the Autism Act.

We completed the Autism Self Assessment Framework in the Autumn of 2016, the submissions are collated and analysed by Public Health England, 145 authorities submitted their responses in total. Subsequently a report has been released which gives details on their findings such as national comparisons and progress. The Lincolnshire Autism Partnership Board is currently reviewing the results which will help to inform and shape future priorities for the Local Autism Strategy.
