Join the library service
You no longer need identification to join the library service to borrow books or use the computers.
Call into any Lincolnshire library to collect your free membership card and Personal Identification Number (PIN).
If you are a resident from another county, you can obtain full access to Lincolnshire’s library service on the production of an existing library card. We will issue you with a Lincolnshire library membership card to use at our libraries.
You can present your Lincolnshire library membership card to join any other library service across England, Wales and Northern Ireland but some conditions may apply.
Lincolnshire’s core library services are now delivered by Greenwich Leisure Limited (GLL), on behalf of Lincolnshire County Council.
As a result, GLL has been given access to the library service’s customer records. GLL will only access this information and use it to the extent that it is required to deliver the service on the council’s behalf, in accordance with the requirements of the Data Protection Act 1998.
You can borrow up to 36 items at any time, including six CDs, DVDs or Blu-rays (where stocked).
Books can be borrowed free of charge for up to three weeks and you can return your items to any library across Lincolnshire.
If you do not extend your loan period on items you have borrowed, or fail to return overdue items, your account will be charged.
Charges for overdue items and reservations only apply to those aged 16 and over.
Before you can borrow any DVDs, CDs or Blu-rays then we do require proof of name and address and a signature will be required.
You can search the entire Lincolnshire Library catalogue online and, for a fee, you can request items to be sent to a library of your choice.
Our Inter Library Loans system also allows us to search and request specific books and other items from across the country. There is a charge for this service.
A free text messaging service has been launched by Lincolnshire’s library service to let borrowers know their items are ready for collection.
All you need to do to use it is contact your library to have your mobile telephone number added to your borrower record. You can also arrange to be notified by email instead.
Visit the Virtual Library to do this yourself online, where you will need your library membership number and PIN.
You can find your nearest library online or by call 01522 782010.
