East Coast Flooding

If you live along Lincolnshire’s coast line, then you are at risk of flooding. As such, we are encouraging all local residents and businesses to be prepared.

  • Please call 0345 988 1188 to sign up to Floodline, the Environment Agency’s free flood warning service, or register here.

Create a flood plan

It might sound like an onerous task, but believe us it isn’t- taking a few minutes to get all your details together now, in the event of an emergency, could make life a lot easier.

So, could you answer the below questions?

  • Do you know how and where to switch off your gas?
  • Do you know how and where to switch off your electricity?
  • Do you know how and where to switch off your water?
  • Do you know if your insurance covers you in case of flooding?

If your answer is no, then we would recommend finding out.

Also, we would recommend, that you gather the details (name and phone number) of all your essential providers.

Finally, do you know where you could go in a flood and how to get there? Keep the name, address, phone numbers and additional info safe.

We’ve also put together an interactive flood plan, which will easily guide you through the planning process step by step.

Prepare an emergency kit

It might also be helpful to prepare an emergency kit containing: non-perishable food, a wind up torch or torch with a spare set of batteries, a wind up radio or radio with a spare set of batteries, warm and waterproof clothing, blankets, a first aid kit and any required medication. And put all your important documents in a waterproof wallet.
