Elections and voting

The next Lincolnshire County Council elections are scheduled to take place on Thursday 4th May 2017. Polling stations will open from 7am to 10pm. The election count will start immediately, following closure of the polls and the results will be published live throughout the night.

How to vote

To vote in the Lincolnshire County Council 2017 election you must:

  • be registered to vote by 13 April 2017 (unless you wish to vote by post or by proxy*) at an address in Lincolnshire
  • be 18 or over on the day of the election (‘polling day’)
  • be a British, Commonwealth or EU citizen
  • not be legally excluded from voting

*If you are unable to vote in person on polling day, you can apply to vote by post (deadline 18th April) or by proxy (deadline 25th April).

Candidates

The names of the candidates standing in the 2017 election have now been published. Notices of Election Agents’ Names and offices for each of the seven district councils has also been published.

Change in electoral boundaries

A recent review of the electoral arrangements for Lincolnshire County Council decided that 70 councillors should represent 70 single-member electoral divisions, a reduction of 7 from the current 77 councillors. A map of the new electoral divisions for 2017 is available, find out more.
