The Data Protection Act 1998 controls how your personal information is used by organisations, businesses or the government. Everyone responsible for using personal data has to follow strict rules called ‘data protection principles’.
Lincolnshire County Council has a duty to comply with the requirements of the Act as it collects personal data when conducting its business.

The Act also provides individuals with the right of access to personal records held by an organisation. You can apply to see what information the Council holds about you by making a subject access request.
