The Poacher Line hopes to bring home two gongs from the Community Rail Awards in December.

After working with students from South Nottinghamshire Academy's fine art department and residents at Manor Care Home in Radcliffe on Trent to produce inter-generational artwork, the project has been shortlisted in the Community Art Schemes - Renewable and smaller projects category.

Jo Andrews, Community Rail Officer for the Poacher Line, said: "We are thrilled to have our hard work recognised in our industry awards. It has been a challenging time for community rail with all of our events this year being cancelled due to Covid-19 but it is wonderful to have something positive to look forward to later in the year.

"The awards ceremony will be a virtual event this year, but it is hopeful we can arrange a regional celebration of our achievements. Thank you to all of our partners who continue to support the Poacher Line"

Students paid a number of visits to the care home to meet with the residents and listen to their stories. They also did art workshops together and designed the final artworks which are now on display at Radcliffe station.

The Poacher Line has also been shortlisted for the photo competition. Their entry, a picture entitled 'Age is Just a Number', was taken at the Vintage Festival in Skegness in September 2019. It depicts a young girl and an elderly gentleman drawing together at the station.

You can help the group win the photo competition by voting now online at www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/CRA20photocomp. The Poacher Line entry is 'D'. Voting closes on 3 September.

Three of its stations – Bottesford, Radcliffe and Heckington – were also placed in the Silver band of 'Its Your Station' with the winner announced on the night.

The award ceremony will take place virtually on 9 December 2020.

The Poacher Line Community Rail Partnership is funded by Lincolnshire County Council, East Midlands Railway, London North Eastern Railway and CrossCountry.
