Grantham Southern Relief Road March update – Installed final 14-tonne bridge beams for new A1 structure

The final 14-tonne and 20-tonne bridge beams for the new A1 connection to the B1174 were lifted into place in February.

What we achieved in February

  • Installed the final 14-tonne and 20-tonne bridge beams for the new A1/B1174 connection
  • Carried out essential site clearance works to the A1
  • Continued steel and concrete works to the new A1/B1174 connection
  • Started laying road surfacing at the eastern roundabout
  • Continued earthworks across site, particularly at western end of the scheme
  • Continued Phase Three Anglian Water watermain diversion and BT ducting
  • Continued post-excavation archaeological reporting

What's happening in March

  • Pour concrete for the new bridge connecting the A1/B1174
  • Continue drainage works and earthworks across the entire site
  • Start kerb installation at the western roundabout
  • Continue Phase Three Anglian Water watermain and sewer diversions
  • Continue post-excavation archaeological reporting
