When complete, the new bypass will sever the local access road as new carriageway is built to connect Wragby Road roundabout to a new roundabout set to be constructed on Greetwell Road.

The road, locally known as the Bunny Run, will be permanently closed from 15 January 2018.

Cllr Richard Davies, executive member for highways, said:

“Construction of the bypass is going well and is really set to ramp up early next year.

“As part of this, we’ll be stopping up Greetwell Fields Lane in January, followed by Hawthorn Road later in the year. This will allow Carillion access to the area for building new carriageway between Wragby Road roundabout and Greetwell Road.

“When complete in Winter 2019, the Lincoln Eastern Bypass will ease congestion in and around Lincoln, making travel much easier for people while also supporting growth and development around the city.”

The Lincoln Eastern Bypass project is part-funded by a £50m Central Government capital grant and aims to minimise traffic congestion, support Lincoln’s growth as a principal urban centre, and enhance the inter-city environment.
