Help to move on from domestic abuse at new Lincoln event

10 August 2017

Following on from the success of previous events, Lincolnshire County Council will be holding another ‘Unleash Your Awesome’ workshop, this time in Lincoln, to help people move forward from past domestic abuse.

Taking place on 8 September, the free event is facilitated by Taz Thornton, a local motivational speaker. Taz speaks from personal experience and aims to help people deal with feelings of low self-esteem, leaving behind the label of ‘victim’ and giving people the confidence to look forward to the future.

Feedback from people attending previous workshops include:

  • “I learnt that I had a voice and that I am important as well”
  • “I needed help to regain my trust in myself, reassurance that I’ve got this, I can do it.”
  • “Taz showed us how to take control. It is not a quick fix, but the start to a better mind set.”

Domestic abuse can have far-reaching effects, and people can be left with negative feelings about themselves, long after they’ve left an abusive relationship. The workshops help people feel supported to overcome this so they can feel safe and happy again.

The workshop runs from 9am until 3pm and takes place at the Myle Cross Centre, Macaulay Drive, Lincoln, LN2 4EL.

If you are interested in more information or wish to book a place on this workshop then please email your name and contact details to domesticabuse@lincolnshire.gov.uk.
