Peppermint Junction update: Project to complete three months ahead of schedule

The £5.4m project to improve safety at the A17/A151 junction is to complete in December, three months ahead of schedule and within budget.

What we achieved in November

  • Completed final carriageway surfacing to A17 and A151 and laid white lines and road studs
  • Continued footway and splitter island surfacing
  • Completed street lighting installation
  • Installed road signs and bollards
  • Completed drainage works
  • Topsoiling to verges and roundabout islands.
  • Fully opened the A17 roundabout to traffic
  • Resurfaced and added a merge-in lane on the A17 (east of B1168 roundabout) for eastbound traffic

What’s happening in December

  • Carry out landscaping on verges and roundabout islands, as well as planting vegetation
  • Complete any outstanding minor works
  • Remove project site cabins and compound

Current traffic restrictions and closures

  • Reduced lane widths for some remaining activities; however, two-way traffic flow will remain unaffected
  • Northon’s Lane will remain permanently closed at the junction with the A151
  • Temporary 30mph speed restriction will remain in force until the end of the works on Friday 8 December
