27 March 2017

A campaign to encourage adults to get more active has been launched

A new campaign to encourage adults to get more active, has been launched, including a new app!

one you active 10

Ten continuous minutes of brisk walking every day

It aims to get people walking briskly every day in bursts of ten minutes or more.

Just ten continuous minutes of brisk walking every day gets the heart pumping and can make you feel better, more energetic and improve your mood. Over time, it can lower the risk of serious illnesses like heart disease and type 2 diabetes.

Whether you’re walking to work, stepping out at lunchtime, walking to the shops or local park or taking the dog for a walk, there are lots of ways you can fit ten minutes of brisk walking into your life. You don’t have to go to the gym, wear sportswear or start expensive fitness programmes to get the benefits of an active lifestyle, walking counts too!

The free Active 10 app shows how much brisk walking you are doing and where you can fit ten minute bursts of brisk walking into your day. The app also sets you brisk walking goals and provides hints and tips to keep you going.

Find out more about ‘Active 10’ and download the app here. For more great ideas on getting active across Lincolnshire, try the Activity Finder here.
