Take part in lunch-time bike ride along Lincoln waterway on Cycle to Work Day

As workers prepare to swap four wheels for two on Cycle to Work Day (September 3), remember, the city’s hirebikes are ideal for short commutes and leisurely bike rides.

Get involved in Cycle to Work Day on Thursday 3 September

Executive member for highways and transportation, Cllr Richard Davies, said:

“Cycling to work is a great way to increase fitness levels, reduce your carbon footprint and generally improve your mood. And, there is no reason to let not owning a cycle be a barrier, there are around 100 public hire bikes available to use at 19 stations across Lincoln. There has been no better time to choose to cycle to work.”

As well as cycling to work on September 3, Lincoln cyclists can also join Lincolnshire County Council’s Access Lincoln team for a lunchtime bike ride along the Water Railway starting at Witham Park House at noon and returning at 1.30pm. And, those cycling anywhere in Lincolnshire can share a photo of their cycling experience on the Access Lincoln Facebook page for the chance to win a cycling goody bag including a D-lock.

To take advantage of a hirebike simply register at www.hirebikelincoln.co.uk. As a member the first 30 minutes of your journey are free with a cost of just £1 per hour thereafter, capped at £4 per rental. You can also use the bikes on a pay as you go basis. The website contains more information about the bikes, how to use them and their locations.
