The Fairplay Football Festival is back!

7 March 2018

The Fairplay Football Festival is back for 2018, bigger and better than ever and celebrating its 10 year anniversary.

Fairplay Football Festival

The festival is open to youth and community groups across Lincolnshire. The 2018 event will take place at the festival’s original home of Sleaford Carres Grammar on 11 April from 9.30am.

Dave Sampher, Sports Development Manager with Children’s Services, says:

“Back in 2008, Positive Futures listened to what young people said they wanted: a knockout 6-a-side football competition for youth and community groups, to crown the best team across Lincolnshire.

“Over the decade the festival has evolved, with the addition of new competition groups, more learning and taster activities to try and even more young people involved.

“Last year over 200 players took part, making the day immense! It’s a fantastic opportunity to test yourself against other youth teams in the county or at the very least have a great team-building experience with your mates.

“Building on that success, 2018 looks like it could be the best year yet and we want as many people as possible to be part of it.”

The day will be a mixture of qualifying rounds in the morning leading to the knockout stages in the afternoon. The competition will be run in 4 categories:

  • U19 Boys
  • U16 Mixed
  • U14 Mixed
  • U12 Mixed

The tournament is free with qualifying teams given the chance to represent Lincolnshire at the National Association of Boys & Girls Clubs 5-a-side finals in Manchester on Saturday 10 June.

Team Entries close on Wednesday 28 March so young people are advised to get in early as there are limited places in each age group and demand is expected to be high.

The best way to get involved is to get down to your nearest Positive Futures footie sessions and chat with the coaches to get more information. Find details on all the current sessions.

Alternatively if you are part of a youth group or community project in Lincolnshire then request an entry pack by emailing
