Foster to Adopt

Foster to Adopt

It is great that you are thinking about Foster to Adopt, and we look forward to supporting you through this very important time. Foster to Adopt carers are emotionally resourceful people who are able to put the needs of very vulnerable children first by removing the uncertainty and waiting these children can experience whilst decisions about their future care are made.

Although there are many similarities, Foster to Adopt carers are not the same as adopters – but the children they care for, and may then adopt, are the same children who would otherwise wait in foster care for adopters to be found.

Being a child’s one and only carer and then adopting them is a rewarding experience and really makes difference to the child, and you, and your family.

Foster to Adopt carers from all types of social and economic backgrounds are always welcome  as the children within our care who need adoptive families have a such a diverse range of needs.

Lincolnshire Adoption and Fostering Service has a range of specialist resources to support and assist Foster to Adopt carers every step of the way; from your first call, right through to the temporary fostering of a child, onto adoption and beyond.

Working closely with adopters and foster carers to support their needs and achieve  positive outcomes is our priority, and one of the reasons we were graded as ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted.

Foster to Adopt is sometimes referred to as fostering for adoption, concurrent planning and early permanence. Lincolnshire Adoption Service is working in partnership with Coram who have produced an information leaflet which you can access from this page.
